Arnold Palmer Fundraiser for Education

I had great fun at the Arnold Palmer Education Fund fundraiser at Traditions Country Club in La Quinta, CA. Tommy Thayer (Kiss) put together a great show that featured Alice Cooper, Danny Seraphine (Chicago) and Robbie Krieger (The Doors). My good pal Eric Singer (also with Kiss) was also there to add to the fun. Special highlights of the set was Alice singing “Break On Through” in his best Jim Morrison voice. He told tales of when Alice Cooper opened for The Doors at The Whisky A Go-Go back in the day, when they were completely unknown.

The other highlight was me getting the chance to play a bunch of “Chicago” songs with Danny and his “California Transit Authority” band. The horns were superb and Jeff Coffey did a stellar job playing bass and singing the Pete Cetera parts.

My thanks to Ed Roth, the band keyboardist, who helped me out and let me have a blast. Robbie Krieger got the crowd rocking with “Riders On The Storm” and “Light My Fire” and Alice blew them all away with “Schools Out”. The crowd had a marvellous night despite the rain and generously raised $1.25 million for the Arnold Palmer Education Fund. Kudos to Tommy Thayer for organising such a great night and here’s to next year!
